What would the S&P 500 index have looked like if its stocks were weighted equally rather than by market cap? How does an index of the highest dividend yield healthcare companies compare to an index of the highest dividend payout ratio industrial companies? The Index application allows you to create custom indices composed of thousands of financial instruments. You control how the index members are chosen, how they are combined, and how often it replaces current members with new ones.
Combine twenty or two-thousand stocks into a single index and monitor its performance over time. Choose to weight the index by market cap, share price, revenue, or any other metric you can imagine.
Your indices are dynamic. Define your index as stocks with the lowest P/E ratios and the members will automatically change each time it rebalances. Specify to rebalance once a year, once a month, every day, or on whatever customizable set of dates you choose.
Which instruments were responsible for the spike? Did a few instruments account for most of the volatility? Break down the contribution and performance of each index member.
Save all your indices. Compare and correlate them with one another, and with other indices your colleagues have created. Instantly port them to other parts of the platform - model all its individual trades in the Strategy application, or analyze the basket of holdings as a Portfolio.
